Aki, designed by Studio Dreimann in 2012, is a clever study of the use of new materials and forms. While Aki is a stunning presence, its leaflike form and solid okumè wood frame is designed to be light beyond belief. Aki is constructed of solid okumè—a very light wood prized for use in the construction of light airplanes and boats as well as for its beautiful wood grain, likened to that of mahogany. The result is a pendant that looks stunning over a conference table, a dining table, entryway or in contract use.
