Mercure Pendant
Patrick Jouin, 2008
With Mercure, Patrick Jouin explored a traditional Murano glass blowing technique called pulegoso and updated it to create a decidedly contemporary light that dazzles. Mercure is made by adding a mist of water between the layers of the handblown glass (vetro incamiciato). The mist evaporates and creates bubble patterns that are unique to each lamp. The glass is also dimpled to create a further ripple effect across the surface. Part of the glass is then chromed to create a mirror finish that diffuses the light, while the remaining glass is left transparent to provide sufficient light output. The result is a dynamic and engaging light that will have you admiring its unique craftsmanship and design ingenuity as you enjoy it in your living room, kitchen, dining area, bedroom,
office, hall or contract application.
